Run a Listing Node: Earn by Hosting Local Listings

A listing node is a simple computer that anyone can run. It hosts marketplace listings for your local area and helps buyers and sellers nearby find each other. In return, you earn from local fees and referrals. It is the easiest way to become part of the network.

You may also see this called a service node. It is the same role with two names.

What a listing node does

Think of a small shop window for your neighborhood. Your listing node keeps the local listings, so people in your area can browse and buy quickly. It also helps local chat run. You are hosting the marketplace for your own community.

What you need

The requirements are low. To run a listing node:

• A participation score of 25 or higher. This is a smaller bar than a validator. It comes from being a genuine, active member of OmniBazaar.
• No stake required. You do not lock any XOM to start.
• No identity check required. You can run one without going through Tier 3 verification.
• A laptop-class computer. Any decent laptop that stays on can do the job.

That is it. If you have a normal laptop and a score of 25, you can run one.

How you earn

You earn from fees and referrals. When people buy and sell in your local area, you earn a share of the marketplace fees. When you refer new buyers and sellers, you earn referral rewards too.

Put plainly: you earn by hosting local listings and referring buyers and sellers in your area.

The catch, said plainly

A listing node does not earn block rewards. That reward belongs to validators, which are a different, heavier role. A listing node earns from local activity only. If your area is quiet, your earnings are quiet too. The busier your local marketplace gets, the more it can earn.

Running a listing node is a way to help your community trade with each other — and to earn from that activity. It is the on-ramp to the network with almost no barrier to entry.
