What Does OmniBazaar Do?
OmniBazaar is an e-commerce platform allowing users to buy, sell, and trade locally or even across borders. No bank accounts are required; simply join, make an OmniBazaar profile, and pay with whatever checkout method you have available. Plus, if you’re looking to explore crypto: our DEX, Yields, and RWA aggregator make for excellent investment tools!
How Does OmniBazaar Work?
The concept is simple:
- OmniBazaar Development DAO builds and maintains the software, handling everything from design, development, engineering, etc. Sellers pay a 1% transaction fee on sales to help cover operating costs, of which we take roughly 1/3. There’s no required cost to use the platform beyond the 1% transaction fee.
- Referrers help onboard new users, growing the platform in an organic, decentralized way. Rather than run intrusive ads or complex marketing campaigns, we let communities decide if they’ll join us or not. Does your town need an e-commerce solution? Refer OmniBazaar to local business owners! As thanks for this essential service, referrers are paid roughly 1/3 of those future transaction fees.
- Node operators offer up their computers as additional, localized servers. This reduces our infrastructure costs and allows us to truly run decentralized; without this key feature, the OmniBazaar platform would have the same issues as most centralized e-commerce platforms. Operators get paid roughly 1/3 of the fees collected as a thank you.
Okay, so it’s a little more complex than just a 123. Suffice to say: the OmniBazaar platform is painstakingly and efficiently optimized to handle any e-commerce and DeFi needs. With all of the above laid out, buyers and sellers can transact among themselves freely, with the entire marketplace being supported by the 1% transaction fees paid by the seller. That’s around 99% of revenue going straight from buyer to the seller.
Interested in getting involved? The easiest gateway in is to become a node operator if you’re an introvert or refer your friends if an extrovert! Both are doable with a few clicks of a button, and can provide a passive income opportunity for life.
How Does OmniBazaar Afford to Run?
OmniBazaar is designed to operate with minimal operating costs. While we have the same core costs as other online platforms, we’ve carefully calculated the margins needed to keep this ship afloat. Most basic transactions can be done with just the minimal 1% transaction fee, and then most “luxury” features charge an additional, minimal price. Basically: we’re charging roughly what we need to perform to any function.
The broader reason? You’ve gotten used to other platforms price gouging and ripping you off. OmniBazaar is charging rates more in line with what e-commerce should be.
Is OmniBazaar a Crypto Company or a Marketplace?
At its core: OmniBazaar is a marketplace. You can sign up, list a product, and sell it to your neighbor without ever touching crypto. That’s by design. We believe commerce should be accessible to everyone, not just the cash rich or crypto savvy.
That said: we believe crypto can make commerce faster, fairer, and all-around much easier. Money is meant to be spent, so why have your hard earn coins locked away in a vault where you can’t use it? We’ve built crypto in as an option (and a pretty good one), but you decide how you want to shop and sell.
What Makes OmniBazaar Different From Other Marketplaces?
Most marketplaces are built around a central hub: an authority that owns the platform, controls what you can sell, harvests your data, and takes a significant cut of every transaction. OmniBazaar’s just built different. There’s no middleman siphoning value, just buyers and sellers trading directly with each other like the good ol’ bazaars of old.
You keep what you earn, your data stays yours, and the platform is governed by its community. You’re not beholden to a platform; you’re a part of it!
How Much Does OmniBazaar Cost?
Just your time. By default, we don’t charge a cent for our services. Individuals and small businesses can transact among themselves using the OmniBazaar software to list and shop for products, services, RWAs, Predictions, and crypto. Users pay no fees to join the marketplace, no fees to shop or to post listings, and no monthly or annual membership fees. Instead, sellers pay a small fee (~1%) on each transaction to support the marketplace network.
While not required, we do offer users the option to boost their listings with percentage rates; these optional fees not only help you reach more prospective buyers, but also help fund the program!
Special brag: all transactions made with OmniCoin (XOM) have zero gas fees! If you’re a crypto fan, you’ll know why that’s a huge deal.
What is OmniCoin?
OmniCoin is the digital currency of the OmniBazaar marketplace. People can use cash, credit, crypto, or OmniCoins to buy and sell goods and services in the OmniBazaar marketplace. The value of OmniCoins “float” freely compared to other currencies, with the value of OmniCoins being based on the value of the goods and services they can buy in the marketplace.
OmniCoin is simple and secure to use. It is privacy-friendly, because it allows users to choose to conduct transactions that are either transparent or anonymous. Transaction processing takes seconds instead of minutes, making OmniCoin business-friendly. Transaction processing uses relatively little computing power, leaving OmniCoin eco-friendly. And, with OmniCoin, you can do transactions using an account name instead of a string of numbers. This makes OmniCoin user-friendly.
Please feel free to read more here.
Do I Have to Use OmniCoin in the OmniBazaar Marketplace?
Nope! But it’s better if you do.
OmniBazaar supports virtually every currency you can think of, from cash to credit to crypto. While you don’t have to, using OmniCoin gives you the lowest possible transaction fees and works seamlessly with several services; we can’t do anything to reduce your bank’s credit card fees, but we can make sure OmniCoin is the best cost-effective option that there is.
How Do I Get OmniCoin?
We give plenty of options. The easiest is to engage with OmniBazaar: buy, sell, and participate actively in the OmniBazaar marketplace and the Proof of Participation system and you will be rewarded automatically. You can also purchase OmniCoin directly through the platform’s built-in exchange, or convert virtually any existing currency into OmniCoin through the DEX. For an easy entry, referring new users to the platform can give you a percentage of all their future sales.
Early users can also pick up OmniCoin through our bonus structure: Welcome, Referral, and First Sale bonuses are all paid out in OmniCoin. See the full breakdown here.
What Is a Decentralized Platform, And Why Want One?
A decentralized platform is one in which there’s no central hub or authority. Traditionally, every transaction occurs through a middleman; we’ve cut him out.
Now: your profits are your own. Most of our services are offered at zero cost, with our largest possible transaction fees still several times lower than our competitors. Plus, with our system being decentralized, we’re at drastically lower risk for hackers, DDoS, server errors, etc.
You’re not bound by a marketplace; you’re part of it!
Is It Safe?
Absolutely! All transactions can be made in escrow, meaning an agreed upon 3rd party will ensure all trades are delivered as promised. KYC structures minimize the risk of spam and fraud, so you’ll always know who you’re dealing with. The whole system’s noncustodial, a fancy way of saying “we don’t touch your money”; when you make a transaction, the money goes straight from your wallet to theirs. Likewise, our entire marketplace is kept safe via community policing, meaning illegal products are kept offline and malicious individuals are barred entry.
You can trust that your payments will be handled with care.
How Do I Know a Seller is Trustworthy?
Every user on OmniBazaar builds a reputation through ratings and reviews from past transactions. Not only can you review a seller’s history before committing to a purchase, we advise you to do so.
For higher-value transactions, we strongly recommend using an escrow agent. These community members act as a neutral third party and hold payment until you confirm delivery. It protects buyers and sellers alike, and it costs you nothing to ask for one. Learn more about escrow here!
Ultimately: follow your gut and use your instincts. If something sounds too good to be true: it likely is.
How User Friendly is OmniBazaar?
Largely. OmniBazaar itself bears an interface highly optimized for user experience, with most buttons, flows, and icons being clear even if in a foreign language. That being said: a lot of the platform discusses advanced investment ideas and crypto.
Familiar with crypto? This’ll be a cinch. Unfamiliar? We make it easy to learn.
To make the marketplace as open to everyone as possible, all major features can be utilized without having to touch crypto. We’re not a crypto company; we’re a company that believes cryptocurrency can be used for global change. That being said: yes, the marketplace can still be used to buy and sell in cash, credit, ACH/ bank transfers, Venmo… you get the idea.
How Is User Data Handled?
It isn’t! What makes us unique is we don’t track your data like traditional marketplaces. All transactions are private between buyer and seller.
Traditionally, digital marketplaces earn money by harvesting and collecting your data before selling you to the highest bidder. OmniBazaar monetizes instead with optional transaction charges where you can promote your own listing (thus reaching a wider audience) and let us collect a small percent.
How Long Has OmniBazaar Been Around?
OmniBazaar was founded in 2013. Since, we’ve developed and optimized a Web2 digital marketplace and are polishing up an upgrade for Web3. During this decade or so of work, we’ve slowly been changing the peer-to-peer landscape.
I’m a Legacy User From the Original OmniBazaar. What Can I Do?
Welcome back! Legacy users are some of our most valued community members, and we’ve made sure you’re taken care of. Through Pioneer Mode, your existing account and OmniCoins carry over: just log in with your original credentials and everything will be waiting for you.
Beyond that: sit back, relax, and explore all the new features and improvements of the new system.
Is OmniBazaar Available In My Country?
If not yet, you can make it so! OmniBazaar operates as a global platform with users and listings across more than 30 countries. If you have an internet connection, come join the club! Some features may be subject to local regulations, but there’s no locale lock on signing up.
Not seeing any listings in your area? Make some!
Do I Need an Account to Browse?
Nope! There’s no signup required to view the full marketplace, though several key features are locked behind a login. Without logging in, you cannot: complete a transaction, use our DEX, make a listing, or participate in rewards programs. All of these would require a connected account to use.
Just want to look around? Go for it! Once you’re ready to officially join the platform, it’s entirely free to do so.
What Languages Does OmniBazaar Support?
OmniBazaar supports the universal language of commerce (but also 16 more!) We’ve already translated the platform into over a dozen major languages, but are constantly adding more. Need your language added? Want to help translate? Get involved!
What is Proof of Participation?
Most cryptocurrencies reward ‘miners’ and large token holders for securing the network. OmniCoin does things a little differently. Proof of Participation rewards the users who are most active in the marketplace itself, meaning the more you buy, sell, and engage, the more you contribute to (and benefit from) the network. It’s a system designed to reward real participants, not just deep pockets.
Why Not Wait to Join Until There’s Already a Bunch of Listings?
Several Reasons!
- OmniBazaar offers a tiered bonus structure for early users, including a Welcome Bonus when you register, a Referral Bonus when someone you refer joins, and a First Sale Bonus when you complete your first transaction as a seller. These bonuses are paid in OmniCoin and scale down as the user base grows, so earlier is better.
- OmniBazaar offers an incredibly generous referral program: every time you refer a user, you get a percentage of their future sales (in perpetuity). The more users you refer, especially sellers, the more money you make just from helping spread the word. Under your account settings, look for the link that says “Referrals”, give it a click, and see your unique referral code and link. You can also get the same thing by clicking “Share” on product listings!
Since you’ve already figured out that this means passive income, you’ve likely figured out that the earlier you start, the more unacquainted acquaintances there are! The sooner you join, the greater slice of these rewards you can score.
How Can I Get Involved?
We’re glad you asked!
There are a few ways you can help support this project (and even earn some cash along the way). Please read over this page for more info.
And, of course: Follow us on all your favorite Socials! Tell your friends!
Who Controls My Money/ Wallet?
You do.
OmniBazaar is a noncustodial platform, meaning we never hold your funds. Your wallet, your keys, your money. This is one of the core principles the platform was built on, allowing anyone to have financial independence with no 3rd party controlling their wealth.
On the upside: this means we cannot touch nor take away your money (even if we wanted to).
On the downside: this means we cannot help you if you lose it.
Please record your username, password, passkeys, phrases, 2FA, and everything and anything else in multiple secure locations. There is not a loophole nor special circumstance we can use to recover these for you.
What Happens if I Lose my Wallet?
This one’s important to read carefully: Because OmniBazaar is noncustodial, we have no access to your wallet or private keys. If you lose them, we cannot recover them for you. Nobody can.
Please store your seed phrase and credentials somewhere safe and offline. I have mine memorized, saved offline on my phone, and written down on sheets of paper both in a safe and stapled to the bottom of my bed at my dad’s house. I’m not joking.
This isn’t a limitation we can work around, nor is it a choice we’ve made of sloth; it’s the nature of true financial ownership. Please protect and record your wallet and keys.
I Got Locked Out of My Account/ Forgot my Password! Can You Recover it For Me?
We cannot.
I’m incredibly sorry, but due to several complex reasons we are unable to recover passwords, pass phrases, usernames, etc. As we do not track, hoard, or sell user data, anything that wasn’t public information beforehand we have no specialized access to. This is why there’s several notices about writing down your information.
Please try everything you can do to remember. If you set up account recovery options, exhaust those as best you can. A provided phone number, email, or related options may be able to help. Likewise, a password manager in your browser may have saved those inputs somewhere.
If you’re reading this and still have access to your account: set up recovery options now!
Feature Specific
What is CryptoBazaar?
CryptoBazaar is a peer-to-peer module designed to trade cryptocurrencies. With it, you can Barter for Bitcoin™ and swap as easily as you would cash to a friend.
Most crypto trading platforms have a central hub. CryptoBazaar’s decentralized trading exchange will allow greater security and few points of risk. Swap safer today!
What is the Yield Tab, and How Do I Earn From It?
The Yield section is OmniBazaar’s DeFi aggregator: a single place to access hundreds of earning opportunities across the crypto ecosystem. From liquid staking and lending to liquidity provision and real estate yield, it pulls together 900+ positions so you can compare and deploy capital without hopping between platforms.
What is the Predictions Tab, and How Do I Earn From It?
OmniBazaar’s Predictions tab lets you stake on the outcome of real-world events, ranging from sports and politics to economics and entertainment. With over 600,000 markets available, there’s no shortage of opportunities. As always: please bet responsibly.
What is the RWA Tab, and How Do I Earn From It?
OmniBazaar offers the unbiased best in RWA aggregation. From this tab, you can browse and buy any number of valuable RWAs, all from the comfort of your screen.
What Are RWAs?
Real World Assets (RWAs for short) are a new investment opportunity in crypto. Similar to how you can sell some equity in a company to quickly raise capital, you can “tokenize” many assets and sell off parts to make money. Houses, companies, and government bonds are commonly tokenized assets, allowing their owners to make some money off an asset without having to fully and literally ‘sell’ it.
Similar to NFTs, RWAs work by representing a physical object or idea on the blockchain. This means you can demonstrably show sale/ ownership of it, making it valuable to sell or own.
While OmniBazaar does not work in the tokenization of assets, we do offer a top-of-the-line aggregator!
Referral Program Specific
How Does the OmniBazaar Referral Program Work?
Generously.
Under your account settings, you’ll see a section that says Referrals. From there: you’ll see your username, Referral Code, and a Referral Link. If a new user enters or uses any of these to sign up, they’ll be registered automatically as your referral.
What does this mean? It means that every time that user makes a sale, you’ll get a minimum of .35% of the revenue. It’s not a ton (we don’t take a ton in general), but that extra income adds up heavily over time. Plus: if your referrals refer someone, you score an additional .10% of those users’ sales! Referrals are paid out in the moment, so there’s no long term wait or buildup period; if your referred user makes a sale, you get paid right then.
Have a blog? Know a string of small business owners? The OmniBazaar referral program is a great way to help support small businesses while also building passive income!
Who Should I Refer to OmniBazaar?
Everyone. While spamming is discouraged and ineffective, a quick text to your friends or a nice social media post can work wonders. Remember: it’s not your decision if they join the platform, but it’s your opportunity to let them decide.
Have a seller you like and want to help? Clueing them into OmniBazaar’s low transaction fees will likely save them significant margins vs wherever they are now. Plus: new markets are never bad, and you get a share of future revenue! Make sure to tell them about how existing listings can be ported over in seconds thanks to our import tools, and that the signup’s free.
Have a loyal buyer who comes to your shop all the time? A mailing list of regulars? If they start buying from you on OmniBazaar instead of other platforms, you’re likely saving money on transaction fees. Plus: you can price your listings here slightly cheaper to entice them, since you’re still saving money vs most platforms’ fees.
Want to save money on all those supplies you constantly buy? Refer your suppliers of anything from wood to gold to those fuzzy pink cotton balls. If it’s legal, they can list it! The same logic holds for really anything you’re buying on the regular, like food or lightbulbs or furniture.
Are you a social media mogul or well connected in the business space? Do you hire freelancers on the regular, or work with some kind of a staffing/ marketing/ CPA agency? Own an event center? You’re a trusted contact for lots of people, and your honest referral of this platform will work wonders. As long as you’re giving an honest referral of your genuine evaluation of the platform, and you’re making sure the person has an actual use in joining here, OmniBazaar is a great gift to refer to business contacts.
The list goes on. As long as you’re remembering to never spam, never misrepresent, and never mislead your social circles, there’s no harm in letting everyone know about this economic platform.
I Referred Someone and Didn’t Get Anything. What Gives?
Let’s start this section with an analogy:
John loves two things: his pizzaria, and his friend Maria. Back in the day, Maria was a huge help in getting John’s pizzaria started, really helping sort out his finances and telling all her friends about his restaurant to make the shop grow. He’s eternally grateful! So, as a thank you for all her help, John commits to giving her a free slice for every pizza he sells. Forever. It’s a great deal; Maria also loves pizza! The two friends shake on it and revel in such mutual generosity, all brought about by being great friends.
The problem: one month Maria receives zero slices of pizza. None. Nada. Is something wrong with John? Is he breaking the terms their deal? Nope! John has been continuing to give Maria a slice of every pizza he sold, as promised. The problem? John hasn’t sold anything this month!
OmniBazaar’s referral structure works the exact same way. Like John, OmniBazaar appreciates every bit of help we can get and rewards that help generously. Instead of pizza, we give 35% of all future transaction fees to the respective referrer, just for referring their friends to the platform. That’s a minimum of .35% of the total revenue of every sale they make, for life! As you can imagine, however, we can only pay out that referral bonus if they make a sale.
So, in order to make sure we have everything working correctly, please review the three checks below.
- Check if they used your referral code/ link on signup. If they did not: we have no way of linking that referral to you. Users will see your account is listed on their signup screen when signing up, and are able to type it in if it isn’t there already. All of your referrals are visible under the Referrals section of your account settings, giving an easy way to see how many you have.
- Understand how and when rewards are paid out. If a user joins but does not verify their account/ claim their own Welcome Bonus, there’s nothing for you to receive your share of. We can’t reward you a percentage of something that doesn’t exist. Likewise, the main reason to refer a user is to collect a percentage of every future sale they make; if they’ve not closed any sales, there’s nothing we can pay out.
- Think of it this way: if John agrees to give Maria a slice from every pizza he sells, she gets no slices if he sells no pizza. It’s the same thing with OmniBazaar sales/ Welcome Bonuses.
- Make sure to distinguish between buying and selling. If someone bought something through OmniBazaar, that doesn’t impact the referral system. Referrals are the percentage of transaction fees we give to our referrers, and we don’t take transaction fees from buyers. All transaction fees are paid by the seller’s side.
- It doesn’t matter how many pizza John personally eats or cans of olives he buys; that has nothing to do with his and Maria’s promise. John would certainly love to pay Maria for him doing those things, but that’s not financially viable.
- If someone uses your referral code and buys a hundred items, there’s no payout because they didn’t sell anything. There’s no transaction fee on buyers. If someone sells a hundred items? You’ve made passive income just for being a good friend!
If you’ve tripled-checked every one of these aspects and are confident there’s still an issue, please reach out to us and report the bug. We want to ensure every aspect of the marketplace works as intended, and that our referrers are being paid properly. Screenshots are always appreciated.
If these explanations helped solve the problem, celebrate by referring more friends!
Seller Specific
How Do I Get Paid?
However you’d like! When setting up a listing, you choose which payment methods you accept: cash, credit, bank transfer, crypto, OmniCoin, and more. When a buyer completes a purchase, payment goes directly to you. There’s no holding period, no payout schedule, and no middleman sitting on your money.
If you’re using OmniCoin, transactions confirm in under a second.
How Can I Promote My Listings?
There are a few ways we recommend:
- Offer a percentage to boost
- Within the marketplace, you can offer us a percentage of the sale and we’ll boost your listing. For instance, if you’re selling a laptop in Detroit, Michigan, you can gift us a 1% share of that listing’s potential revenue and, in turn, be placed at the top of the list for relevant searches. In other words: whenever someone in your locale searches “Laptops”, they’ll see yours first!
- There’s no upfront cost to promoting listings; you only pay if you close the sale. It’s not free marketing, but it’s just about the closest one can get.
- The best part? Doing this helps support OmniBazaar’s development!
- Share links on social media
- Sharing your store or listings on social media can help drive traffic. The more eyes: the more sales. Already listing products on your bios, descriptions, or posts? Including a link straight to the OmniBazaar listing will optimize conversion rates!
- Fun fact: sharing your referral link from product listings means any new users who join because of you are not only more likely to buy that product, but also will count as your referrals! In other words: just promoting your own products on social media can earn you additional revenue from referral bonuses!
- Maintain a great reputation in the OmniBazaar ecosystem
- By getting involved in requests and community forums, you’ll be better integrated into the larger ecosystem. That’s more exposure of your shop and, equally, more trust in your brand!
Can I Import Listings From Other Platforms?
Absolutely. OmniBazaar has a built-in import tool allowing you to log in to most other platforms, click a few buttons, and have all your other listings imported in seconds.
Likewise: we have zero anticompetitive laws or rules in place, meaning you’re allowed to post on multiple platforms without hurting our feelings. Just be cautious: other platforms aren’t as supportive.
What’s the Fastest Way to List My Products?
If you’re active on a different platform, OmniBazaar offers a tool to copy images and information over from other sites. It allows you to quickly port any number of listings from your other platforms, turning minutes of work into seconds.
Looking to sell on OmniBazaar and Etsy, for instance? That’s fine! Just use your existing Etsy listings in our tool and it’ll port them right over. There are additional ways in your account settings to have certain things fairly automated, so that’s a plus.
Beyond that: just take some time to learn the system and you’ll quickly find a rhythm. Feel free to share creative resources to speed up this process on your socials or, if you’re feeling introverted, email them to cmo@omniBazaar.com.
What Can I Sell on OmniBazaar?
Almost anything, actually. OmniBazaar supports listings across six main categories: Products, Services, Jobs and Gigs, Real Estate, Vehicles, and Personal listings. Whether you’re offloading used furniture, offering freelance design work, or selling a car: there’s a tab for that.
Further: we have extensive options for crypto enthusiasts. Our DEX allows anyone to swap or acquire crypto, and the RWA tab makes Real World Asset investment a cinch. Countless subcategories exist too long to name here.
When in doubt: if it’s legal and you own it, you can probably list it.
A Buyer is Being Difficult. What Do I Do?
It’s your decision who you sell to and how. While not required, we recommend using an escrow agent for your more expensive sales as this protects buyers and sellers. Likewise, you can review ratings for each user and decide from there.
There’s no shame in not doing business with someone.
Can I Sell Services or Gigs Too?
We encourage it! OmniBazaar has a dedicated tab for services and gigs alongside the standard product listings. Freelancers, contractors, tutors, consultants: if you have a skill to offer, you have a listing to make. The same zero-fee-to-list policy applies.
My Account Said I Hit a Daily Limit. What Gives?
First, congratulations! Second, it’s likely a KYC issue. Click on your account icon in the upper right corner and hover down to where you see KYC Status. Click on that page. From there, you’ll be able to see where you are in KYC verification, what your current transaction limits are, and how you can increase them.
The simplest way is to verify your phone, email, and a social media account. This lets us show regulatory agencies that we’re in compliance and that you’re a real person, not a scammer. From there, the higher tiers require things like financial statements or government ID verification. Most governments require we have these in order to allow business operations, or else we wouldn’t ask.
Unfortunately, we cannot increase your daily limit without this. It’s against the law.
I Need Help. Where Else Can I Go?
If an issue wasn’t covered here, please try our community forums. These are a user-centric hub of information and resources freely shared between members. While not everything is on there, there’s a likely chance your question has come up before. If not: post a thread!
Likewise, you’re free to reach out to us at cmo@omniBazaar.com to get this FAQ updated.
Node Operator Specific
What Do I Need to Become a Node Operator?
A decent computer, some of its free bandwidth, and a decent participation in the OmniBazaar marketplace.
By going into account settings, you can see instructions on how to join. Basically: you sign up, click a button, and it does the work for you. The minimum specs to be an operator are low; however, I wouldn’t recommend this on super outdated or super low functioning laptop unless you’re not planning on using it for anything else.
The only real hurdle beyond tech is you need a positive participation score on the platform, but this should be achievable assuming you’re not a scammer, not a spammer, and aren’t brand new to the system. If your score is too low to participate: try helping out in the community forums or making some listings!
What Will OmniBazaar Have Access to On My Computer?
Nothing beyond what we’ve agreed to. By offering your machine as a local node, it essentially say that we can use your processing power to do locally run the marketplace.
Will It Slow Down My Computer?
Potentially, but minimally. If it’s a higher end PC, you’ll likely not notice a drop unless you’re gaming. If it’s a lower end model, it will likely impact performance; however, you’re able to host/drop whenever you’d like. Just bear in mind: whenever you stop hosting or turn your computer off, you won’t be processing transactions and, as a result, won’t be making money.
How Much Money Can I Make as an Operator?
It depends entirely on your local market and how long you operate for. The more commerce is done in a given area, the more money a local operator will make; the more operators there are in an area, though, the more pieces are being cut of the pie. Basically: we can’t give a specific number or meaningful range because there’s too many variables, but it should be enough to be worth your time.
While this is entirely for illustrative purposes of providing a potential ballpark, current estimates suggest operators could make around $30 per day, or over $10k a year.
How Do I Maximize My Earnings?
Two things:
- Have your computer on and hosting running in as frequently as possible. The more time you spend operating, the more transactions you’ll likely process. I personally leave mine running 24/7 except for occasional system updates or if I’m leaving for several days. There’s no monitoring or active steps you have to do, so having it run while you’re out at work, taking trips, taking naps, running errands, or having parties is ideal. That being said: it’s your computer and you know better than some FAQ what you need from it.
- Cause more transactions in your area. While being a referrer for local businesses will help, you can also import listings from other sites. These aren’t ideal, as they’re aggregators vs “real” listings, but essentially those are quickest ways to get more listings on your local node. More listings = more transactions = more revenue for you.
Some of our highest earning participants both host a local node and refer local users. In practice: it can be profitable to refer and host for OmniBazaar than it is to own the company.
