OmniBazaar, Inc., developer of the OmniBazaar online distributed marketplace, announced today that it has acquired over 10,000 registered users in less than 4 months of operation.

The production version of the OmniBazaar e-commerce marketplace software was released on 31 October 2018. At the same time, OmniCoin Foundation Company launched its OmniCoin cryptocurrency for use in the marketplace. The number of registered users of the marketplace has grown to over 10,000 since that time.

The OmniBazaar marketplace provides a simple “gateway” for new users to enter the cryptocurrency ecosystem. It allows users to list products and services that they can barter for crypto℠ in the marketplace. This allows users to acquire cryptocurrencies immediately, with every sale. OmniCoin is one of three cryptocurrencies supported by the OmniBazaar marketplace, along with Bitcoin and Ether.

“We are pleased to see so many people joining the marketplace” said co-founder and CEO, Richard Crites. “People like that they can get their first cryptocurrency within hours—without bank accounts, wire transfers, identity verification or learning to trade on an exchange”. “We enable both e-commerce and cryptocurrency for billions of people who don’t have bank accounts or credit cards”.

The OmniBazaar marketplace is based on a patented “peer-to-peer-to-peer” technology. Friction-reducing features include a choice of three built-in cryptocurrencies, a simple escrow system, community policing to eliminate illegal listings, and a social messaging system. The OmniBazaar marketplace can be completely free to use for both buyers and sellers, if neither party chooses any of the optional marketplace services.

The production version of the OmniBazaar software is available now. Installers are available for Windows, Linux and MacOS. When early adopters join, they receive 5,000 free OmniCoins for use in the marketplace.
